Rescuetime
I spend a lot of time in front of the computer and I need to track how I use my time. Rescuetime allows me to do that seamlessly. The RescueTime app runs in the background of your devices tracking, measuring and automatically categorizing your activity.
It offers a reporting dashboard with all your data sliced, diced and sorted into useful charts to help you manage your time.
The app is based on Peter Drucker’s (the famous management consultant) maxim that “what gets measured, gets managed.”
I look at my reports on a daily and weekly basis so that I can see the apps and sites that I spend a lot of time on. This allows me to continually seek ways to use my time more effectively. The app is available both for desktop and mobile, including iOS. You can learn more and download the app
Todoist
Todoist is one of the best to-do list apps. I use it to monitor and increase my productivity and organise my tasks.
This app is available across a wide variety of devices, is easy to use, and has great
core features. The app allows you to set hourly, daily, weekly or monthly reminders so that you remember to do those important tasks. You can learn more about the app here.
LastPass
Working online invariably means that you will sign up on a number of websites and you run the risk of forgetting some of your passwords and logins. I have used a few password managers and LastPass has turned out to be the best. It is a full-featured tool which combines a vault, form-filler, and password generator.
After you sign up and install the LastPass browser plugin, it captures your login credentials when you visit a website for the first time. When you return to a site, a small icon appears in its login fields showing how many accounts you have stored.
Clicking it opens a drop-down menu revealing each account so you can select the appropriate one. You can also select an auto-login option for each account to have LastPass sign you in automatically whenever you visit that site.
All this makes it easy for me to navigate the web. I only need to remember the master password. LastPass is free to use on multiple devices, and two-factor authentication is included in the free version. I use it on my computer and my mobile phone and it truly simplifies logging in.
